Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2026

PintRadar ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we collect and use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have when using PintRadar (the "Service") on the web, iOS, and Android.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account information: email address, password (stored hashed), display name, and any avatar image you upload.
  • User content: reviews, ratings, photos, wishlists, follows, toasts, trivia answers, and other activity you create on the platform.
  • Location data: approximate device location, used only with your permission to show nearby venues and to validate that reviews are submitted on-premises (geofence). Location is processed in real time and is not stored as a continuous location history.
  • Device & technical data: device type, operating system, app version, language, and basic crash/diagnostic information.
  • Usage analytics: aggregated, non-identifying information about how features are used so we can improve the app.
  • IP address: logged at the moment you accept the Terms of Use, for legal record-keeping.
  • Contacts (optional, mobile only): if you choose to use the "Invite Friends" feature, the app reads your device contacts on-device to let you select people to invite. Contact data is not uploaded to our servers.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide core features: ratings, the social feed, leaderboards, achievements, and trivia.
  • To authenticate your account and keep it secure.
  • To prevent fraud, abuse, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • To communicate important service, security, or legal updates.
  • To improve PintRadar based on aggregate, non-identifying usage data.

We do not use your personal data for advertising, and we do not sell your personal data to third parties.

3. Sharing & Third-Party Services

Public content you create on PintRadar — including your display name, avatar, reviews, ratings, achievements, and leaderboard standing — is visible to other PintRadar users by design.

We use a small number of trusted third-party service providers strictly to operate the Service. These providers are contractually required to protect your data and to use it only for the services they provide to us:

  • Hosting, database & authentication infrastructure — to store your account and content securely.
  • Google Places API — to power venue search and look up pub information you request.
  • Apple & Google sign-in (optional) — if you choose to sign in with these providers.

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of PintRadar or its users.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account information and user content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal information and content are removed from active systems within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records (for example, terms-of-use acceptance logs) for legal or security purposes.

5. Your Choices & Rights

  • Access & edit: view and update your profile, reviews, and other content at any time from within the app.
  • Revoke permissions: revoke location, notification, or contacts permissions at any time via your device settings.
  • Account deletion: request deletion of your account and associated personal data from your profile settings in the app. Once processed, this is permanent.
  • Regional rights (GDPR / CCPA / UK GDPR): depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, port, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

6. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures — including encrypted transport (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and Row-Level Security on our database — to protect your information. No system is 100% secure, but we work continuously to safeguard your data.

7. Children

PintRadar is intended for users who are of legal drinking age in their jurisdiction. The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

8. International Transfers

PintRadar is operated globally. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries that may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by other reasonable means. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
